AMERICAN SCHOOL OF VALENCIA
Enseñanza en inglés de 2 a 18 años.
Profesorado nativo. Entorno privilegiado.
25 años de experiencia.
In 1974, the company Ford España, S.A. was established in Valencia, and many American and British families came over to create and develop the company. Within a short time, it became evident that schooling for the children of these families was needed and thus the Angloamerican School of Valencia in the town of Rocafort was created.
An increasing number of children from Valencia enrolled in the school, so that when the foreign families returned to their countries of origin, these Spanish families wanted to continue educating their children in a bilingual school. Los Monasterios was selected as the site, and the Spanish-English bilingual school, Colegio Hispano Norteamericano was built in 1980.
The name was changed to American School of Valencia to reflect the fact that our language of instruction, except in Spanish subjects, is English.
Beginning with only 27 students, we now have 750 students from nursery to grade 12.
The Philosophy of American School of Valencia
Recognizing and supporting each individual’s right to realize one’s potential in all areas, we are committed to providing high quality education, with well-trained and caring staff who not only impart knowledge but also interact as facilitators and collaborators in the learning process. This learning process, where our students are expected to be active and responsible participants, encourages them to think critically and constructively thus preparing them to face successfully the multiplicity of experiences and challenges in the ever-changing world.
In order to implement our philosophy, it is our aim:
To maintain a curriculum designed to equip students with the necessary skills and qualifications to further their formal education not only in Spanish Universities, but also in an American or European institution.
To create an atmosphere of mutual cooperation, understanding, and respect in which all members of the school community can participate harmoniously together without discrimination.
To foster a cooperative relationship between home and school, that recognizes the shared responsibility of the student’s education.
To teach our students to use English and Spanish appropriately and fluently.
To develop in our students the love of learning and appreciation for arts and sciences as a means of enriching their lives and expanding the boundaries of their experience.
To create a stimulating environment conducive to inquiry and investigation, using up-to-date methodology, resources and technology.
To encourage our students to develop self- discipline, to teach them to accept and cope with responsibility.
To teach our students to be self-critical and to accept criticism as a part of the learning process.
To help our students develop into responsible citizens and caring members of their community
To help our students develop self-confidence and self-esteem.
To encourage our students to set worthwhile goals.
To stimulate in our students a desire to be honest, trustworthy and helpful.
To help our students develop their physical skills and appropriate attitudes leading to a lasting healthy lifestyle.
To help our students develop an acceptance that cultures and societies differ and each possesses its own intrinsic value.
